Minister of Environment Han Hwa-jin visited Hanil Cement's Danyang Plant and Hanil Hyundai Cement's Samgok Plant on September 27. Minister Han was accompanied by Head of Hanil Cement Danyang Plant Shim Yong-seok, Danyang-gun Governor Kim Moon-geun, Vice President Lee Chang-ki of the Korea Cement Association, and many others in attendance to discuss the current agenda of the industry.

Minister Han was briefed on the current progress of air pollutant reduction measures being implemented by the cement industry before checking out Danyang Plant's COP, waste synthetic resin storage, and eco power generation facility. At the Samgok Plant where nitrogen oxide prevention facilities and R&D demonstrator equipment are installed, he listened to the explanation on the effect and advantages and disadvantages of these facilities and equipment, and then shared opinions on the ways to commercialize them.

"We are preparing improvement measures for both the environment and corporations to coexist by considering the current conditions of the cement industry and the effect on circumstances surrounding the industry. We will find effective ways of constant communication among the central government, local governments, and industry,” Minister Han said.
